Aaron Nola – $10,000 – P

Despite experiencing a downturn in strikeouts, Nola retains excellent command and promises a compelling performance against the Tigers, who rank 29th in ISO against right-handed pitching. The clear spend up option on the slate. The reliable right-hander represents a strong DFS pick today, valued at $10,000 on FD and $10,200 on DK, and is expected to be a highly popular choice.

Rodolfo Castro – $2,400 – 2B

Projected to bat 5th against the left-handed J.P Sears makes Castro the best cheap value play on the slate for $2,400. You can also play him at the SS position giving you the flexibility with your builds. The Pirates have just a 4.91 implied team total with a 62% win probability.

Trea Turner – $3,000 – SS

Definitely hasn’t been the season Trea Turner wanted for his new team but all players go on slumps. For $3,000 in a good matchup against Wentz, it’s hard to fade the upside Turner brings, especially with his legs. I’m having a hard time finding a build with him on OwnersBox but he’s a priority on FanDuel and DraftKings.

Aaron Nola – $10,200 – P

As explained above, Nola is a lock on FanDuel and as well as on DraftKings. I’m not concerned about the matchup and hard to fade the chalk pitcher tonight. Play the top pitcher and build your lineup from there.

Blake Snell – $9,700 – P

While Snell’s strikeout performance has varied this season, his track record suggests potential for a high-strikeout match against the batters of the Cubs. Expected to be a popular pick on DK, the route I’m taking is spending up on pitching and finding value with my bats. There are a ton of options down below under “Cash Game Considerations”.

Kevin Newman – $2,600 – 3B

Batting leadoff in a favorable batting environment, Newman at $2,600 is a lock. A cheaper option that provides value, especially if you decide to spend up on pitching. He will face Julio Teheran who has actually been decent his first two starts but it’s a small sample size.

Johan Oviedo – $7,100 – P

For Oviedo, the inconsistency is scary but all we are considering here is the matchup against the worst team in the bigs, the Oakland Athletics. There really isn’t a better pitcher that I feel comfortable playing. I won’t play Manoah vs HOU, Perez at $7,900 and definitely not playing J.P Sears who is projected almost 7 less than Oviedo.

Blake Snell – $8,700 – P

It’s hard to play Snell over Nola on FanDuel but for $8,700, he is a solid option on OwnersBox for cash games. As long as Snell is able to control the box, he has a great shot at going over his projection.
